Top 10 Favorite Rock Vocalists

Because I like making lists, I decided to make a list of my top ten favorite rock vocalists. That doesn’t mean they’re my favorite lyricists, or even favorite frontmen on stage, it’s simply the sound of their voice I’m respond to. In no particular order:

Phil Lynott (of Thin Lizzy) – awesome 70s swagger

Mark Lanegan (of Screaming Trees, The Gutter Twins, The Twilight Singers, Queens of the Stone Age, others) – whiskey-soaked honesty

Greg Dulli (of The Afghan Whigs, The Gutter Twins, The Twilight Singers) – baddest of the bad

Gord Downie (of The Tragically Hip) – flailing madman

Biff Malibu (of Gluecifer) – punk throwback

David Lee Roth (of Van Halen) – samurai scissor-kick

Shawn Smith (of Satchel, Brad, Pigeonhed, All Hail The Crown, The Diamond Hand, others) – soul genius

Stevie Nicks (of Buckingham Nicks, Fleetwood Mac) – world-weary rasp

Ian Astbury (of The Cult) – rock ‘n roll shaman

Scott Hill (of Fu Manchu) – stoned perfection
